About

Penelope's Story

Penelope Stubbing came to painting after extensive world travels, and that time away still shapes what she puts on canvas. Working in acrylic, she paints abstract landscapes drawn from the landforms of both New Zealand and England — wide, quiet skies over paddocks and coastline, simplified down to horizon, weather, and colour. Her paintings favour mood and atmosphere over fine detail, often built from soft, layered brushwork that lets a storm-lit sky or a still field speak for itself. Alongside her paintings, Penelope also creates intricate feather artworks — radiating, mandala-like compositions built entirely from natural feathers.
